Common questions about the UltraHeat SBT Series high-frequency induction heating systems for soldering and brazing applications.
Where can I find the serial number on my machine?
The serial number (SN) is located on the rating label at the rear panel of the power supply. You will need this number when contacting UltraFlex for technical support, warranty service, or when ordering replacement parts. Keep a record of your serial number with your purchase documentation.
Is there a remote Start/Stop feature?
Yes. The SBT Series offers a remote Start/Stop operation feature via the optional Digital I/O Interface board. This allows integration with external automation systems, foot switches, or PLCs for hands-free operation — particularly useful in production line environments where the operator needs both hands free for part handling.
Can UltraFlex design a custom coil for my application?
Yes. UltraFlex offers custom coil design and manufacturing services tailored to your specific workpiece geometry and heating requirements. Our engineering team can design coils optimized for your application, whether it involves soldering small components, brazing assemblies, or other precision heating tasks.
Is a Foot Switch Assembly available?
Yes. A Foot Switch Assembly is available as optional equipment for the SBT Series. It connects through the Digital I/O Interface and provides hands-free Start/Stop control, which is ideal for bench-top soldering and brazing operations where the operator needs to hold the workpiece in position during heating.
What operator control modes are available?
The SBT Series offers three selectable operator control modes: Automatic, Remote, and Local. Automatic mode runs pre-programmed heating cycles, Remote mode accepts external control signals (0–10V, 4–20mA, or digital I/O), and Local mode provides direct front-panel operation. This flexibility supports both manual bench work and fully automated production.
Can I use 4–20mA for external power control?
Yes. The SBT Series supports both 4–20mA current loop and 0–10V analog inputs for external power control via the optional Digital I/O Interface board. These standard industrial signals make it straightforward to integrate with PLCs, process controllers, or custom automation systems.
What are the cooling water requirements?
The SBT Series heat stations require a minimum water flow of 2 L/min (0.5 GPM) with inlet pressure between 3 bar (45 PSI) and 6 bar (90 PSI). We recommend using deionized or distilled water to protect internal components and extend system life. See our water quality recommendations for more details.
