epoxy curing with induction

Objective:

The objective of this induction heating application test is to evenly heat a steel cylinder to 250°F (121°C) prior to the epoxy curing. The customer, a plastics manufacturer, is looking to switch from resistance heating to induction heating for faster cycle times and higher repeatability. The key to a success for this process is to heat the entire part to an even temperature while keeping the temperature below 350F to avoid burning of the epoxy. After the desired temperature is reached, they inject into the part a resin compound which gets cured.

The test was conducted with the Ultraheat SM-5, 5kW system. The goals of fast heating and even temperature distribution were achieved.

Equipment

Considering the size, material, and shape of the workpieces, UltraHeat SM 5 kW induction heating system was recommended for this curing process.
