Objective
Show that a 2 kW unit can braze copper assemblies in 30 seconds and up to 2 minutes for larger parts.

Equipment

HS4 Heat Station

Materials
• Copper tube
• SS tube

Test 1

Key Parameters
Power: 1.85 kW
Temperature: 1350° F (732° C)
Frequency: 156 kHz
Time: 30 sec

Test 2

Key Parameters
Power: 1.89 kW
Temperature: 1350° F (732° C)
Frequency: 150 kHz
Time: 60 sec

Test 3

Process:

  1. Apply flux to all parts and assemble.
  2. Heat assembled part in coil until braze temperature is reached.
  3. Apply silver alloy until cap is completely covered by alloy.
  4. Rinse off flux in hot water.

Results/Benefits:

  • Good braze results are achieved with 30 seconds of induction heating, and with up to 2 minutes of braze time for large housing including internal components.
  • The same coil can heat be used for brazing both small and large parts.
