Brazing Copper Wires and Bus Bars

Objective
Successfully braze copper wires to bus bars in under 20 seconds with induction heating.

Materials
• Copper wire
• Bus bar
• Brazing alloy – CuP6

Test 1 – Wire to bar:
Key Parameters
Power: 2.4 kW
Temperature: Approximately 1292° F (700° C)
Time: 14-15 sec

Test 2 – Wire to wire :
Key Parameters

Power: 2.4 kW
Temperature: Approximately 1292° F (700° C)
Time: 4-5 sec

Process:

  1. A custom coil is made for the test.
  2. In both tests, the copper wires and bus bars are assembled.
  3. Brazing alloy is applied.
  4. Induction heating is applied to the piece.
  5. The brazing takes 14-15 sec for wire to bus brazing and takes 4-5 sec for wire to wire brazing.
