Hardening with induction

I. Please provide the following information for all parts and assemblies to be used in this application.

  1. Material Composition: What is the specific composition of the Material?
  2. Material Geometry: What are the dimension and shapes of the parts?
  3. Do you need to Through Harden or Case Harden?
  4. If Case Hardening is required, what is the min / max case depth?

II. Drawings / Photos: If available, please provide drawings and photos of the part(s) to be heated

III. Process Type:  Will this be a standalone process?  Or integrated into an existing process?

IV. Production Rate:

  1. If there is a target production rate, please provide required parts per minute (or hour or year)
  2. If there is a target production rate, please provide # of operating shifts.
  3. If there is a target production rate, please provide estimation of load and unload time.

V. Part feeding

  1. Are parts fed manually or automatically?
  2. If parts are fed manually, what are the loading and unloading times?
  3. If parts are fed automatically, please describe the type of system.

VI. Quench Type: please specify the type of quench (none, water, polymer – with % of mixture, other)

VII. Options

  1. Will you need a coil? If yes, is the coil a new design or existing?
  2. Will you need temperature control / monitoring?
  3. Will flexible leads be needed (required if the coil position will move)?
  4. Do you have available water cooling, or will this also be needed?

VIII. Other requirements

  1. Are there any restrictions for power?
  2. Are there any space constraints? If yes, please provide the space footprint for the equipment.

IX. Current Process

  1. What is the current process being used? (e.g. Gas furnace; Torch; Induction; New; Other – please specify.)
  2. If Induction is currently used, what is the current equipment? Please include manufacturer, model, power (kW) and frequency (kHz).
  3. What are the drivers for purchasing new induction equipment (e.g. Safety; Energy Savings; Better process control; Reduce Quality Defects; Increase production rates; Other – please specify).
